This year the Town of Washington will be doing a revaluation.  R&R Asessing (our town’s contracted assessor) will be performing an external revaluation.  They will be getting and checking exterior info such as measurements, new pictures and information at the door.  If there had been extensive interior remodeling, new additions and/or new homes built, then the assessor would prefer to see the interior, however, that is at the call of the property owner.  If the property owner refuses to let the assesor in, the assessor will try to get the information at the door.  If the property owner refuses that as well, then the assesor will make an educated assumption for what the property owner may have and thus value the property accordingly.
